Huntsville New Liberals November Happy Hour
Huntsville New Liberals
Let's talk solving homelessness with a D.C.-based policy expert!
Mad Malts Brewing | 109 Maple Avenue Northwest Huntsville, AL 35801
Join the Huntsville New Liberals at our free monthly happy hour. This month we have a special guest speaker: Mike Tanner, Senior Fellow at The Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity (FREOPP), a non-profit think tank focused on expanding economic opportunity to those who least have it.
In his more than 30 years studying public policy, Mike has testified before Congress ten times, wrote 11 books, and published dozens of reports, studies, and articles for outlets like the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and the Washington Post.
Come by and grab a drink on us. We're here to make Huntsville a better place to live through evidence-based public policy. And we're building community along the way.
Huntsville New Liberals October Happy Hour
Huntsville New Liberals
Grab a drink or two on us and let’s make friends and make Huntsville better!
The Camp — 5909 University Drive Northwest Huntsville, AL 35805
We at Huntsville New Liberals are dedicated to working together to make Huntsville and even better place to live.
Come by for drinks on us and conversations about politics with smart, mostly reasonable people. We meet at The Camp at 5909 University Dr NW, Huntsville, AL 35805 from 6-8 pm on the fourth Thursday of every month.
Based on what people seem to be passionate about, we're currently focusing on making Huntsville safer and easier to walk and bike around. We're also all about some mass transit and dense, affordable housing. Boo car dependence. Yay urbanism.
This happy hour is a great place to get plugged in, whether you're looking for friends/community, opportunities to volunteer, ways to get involved in local politics, or just a place to vent.
We're not looking to re-invent the wheel or compete with existing groups. If you're about making Huntsville better, please come out and recruit from our attendees! We want people doing whatever they're best suited to. There's more than enough work to go around.
We welcome everyone of all races, religions, orientations, etc. Members of all parties are also welcome (though we are liberals, so authoritarians may not find much common ground here).
Huntsville New Liberals is a project of the Center for New Liberalism.

Mad Malts Brewing 109 Maple Ave NW Huntsville, AL 35801
The Huntsville New Liberals are dedicated to working together to make Huntsville an even better place to live.
Come by Mad Malts Brewing from 6-8 pm on Aug 24th for drinks on us and conversations about politics with smart, mostly reasonable people.
We’re currently focusing on making Huntsville safer and easier to walk and bike around. We’re also all about some mass transit and dense, affordable housing.
As part of that focus, we’re stoked to announce that a mere two months after our very-first happy hour, the Huntsville New Liberals are hosting our very first expert speaker!
Dennis Madsen, Manager of Urban & Long-Range Planning at the City of Huntsville is gracing us with his presence to talk about what’s happening at the Huntsville Housing Authority and how you can help! Dennis is the brains behind Big Picture Huntsville, the City of Huntsville’s comprehensive master plan. Dennis and his site are chock-full of incredible urbanist ideas, including designing streets for easier and safer walking and biking and vastly increasing mass transit access.
This talk will focus on a topic that’s become especially salient as Huntsville’s rents have skyrocketed over the past few years – homelessness.
