The Melbourne New Progressives is a people-driven movement focused on building a bigger, better city for all. We believe in a progressive Melbourne with capacity for real cosmopolitan growth, and are focused on supporting and furthering the progressive policies that make this city great.

In 2023 we are working to build a groundswell of grassroots support for a local Yes In My Back Yard (YIMBY) movement. Throughout the year we will be building infrastructure to encourage and support meaningful densification of the city, combating the housing crisis by enabling new homes to be built in the areas where people want to live.

Hello and welcome to this brand new year. Come the first of March, we will once again meet together. It has been far too long, but we’re ready now to get moving properly.

Come and share drinks and snacks and also—and this is important—a brief talk from Chapter Lead Jonathan on the concrete plans to build and lead a strong Melbourne YIMBY movement.

Drinks from 6pm, talk at 7pm. After that we’ll stick around devising and chatting, right up until our state-imposed bedtimes.

This VIC Election, join your fellow political enthusiasts for an evening of election coverage, drinks, snacks, and chats.

While polling has the overall result pretty locked up, there are still questions to be asked, like: What are those wacky minor parties up to? Will any key seats change hands?
