Center for New Liberalism & LA New Liberals Endorse Sara Hernandez for California Senate District 26
LOS ANGELES, CA –The LA New Liberals and Center for New Liberalism believe that the best societies commit themselves to markets, growth, and innovation while equally committing to robust public institutions to expand opportunity and safeguard the public good.
As an organization premised first in ideas and values and then partisan affiliation, we look for candidates who we think embody our ideals when making endorsements of their candidacies. We also distinguish between encouraging our friends and members to consider voting in a certain way and full endorsement because we believe endorsed candidates should reflect our principles as an organization as closely as possible.
It is with this in mind that we proudly announce our first endorsement of the 2026 election cycle as Sara Hernandez, candidate for the 26th District of the California State Senate.
“We are constantly on the lookout for candidates like Sara,” said LA New Liberals chapter lead Tyler Laferriere. “She combines a rich history of policy experience, building institutions, and developing public institutions that encourage and support aspiration and entrepreneurship.”
As a nonprofit founder, Sara has first-hand experience not only building institutions but administering and monitoring their success and value to their clients, in this case at-risk and low-income students. As an educator, she directly provided the support and advocacy public institutions should give to enable present and future workers, creators, and founders to build productive lives, prosperous families, new enterprises, and thriving communities. As a leader in City Hall and later the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees, she developed programs and resources that uplifted, empowered, and educated fellow Angelenos to participate in the economy and society.
In Sara’s words, “Good policy only happens when our leaders know how it actually plays out on the ground.”
In her ideals and experiences, Sara embodies the core ethics of New Liberalism and our highest aspirations for the future of the Democratic Party and public service. It is our privilege to endorse her candidacy for California State Senate, and we heartily encourage the residents of the 26th District to join us in this support with their votes.
