Center for New Liberalism Statement On President Biden’s Decision to Not SEEK Re-Election
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Center for New Liberalism Director Colin Mortimer released the following statement regarding President Biden’s decision to not seek re-election:
“The Center for New Liberalism and all our members – both across the country, and around the world – are profoundly grateful to President Biden for his leadership over these past four years. His decision to step back as the Democratic nominee and pass the torch to the next generation of leadership is a patriotic one, and will be remembered for years to come.”
“His presidency will be defined by his strong character and commitment to American values. His work to expand our freedoms, build a stronger and more resilient economy, fight climate change, invest in America’s infrastructure, reform broken permitting processes, and build more housing will define his legacy. Above all else, Joe Biden has been a remarkable voice of moral clarity as president, and his legacy is secure through his work to protect and defend democracy at home and abroad.”
“Now, President Biden has passed the torch to Vice President Kamala Harris, solidifying her position as the presumptive nominee. The Center for New Liberalism is excited to support her and work for her victory in November. We hope Vice President Harris selects a pragmatic running mate to draw a strong contrast against Donald Trump and J.D. Vance’s anti-democratic and far-right populist agenda. We also hope she champions a policy agenda that guides the Democratic Party toward pragmatic progress for a more free, open, and prosperous America.”
